Imagine it this way ...
- Are you awake right now?
- Do you definitely know that you are awake right now?
If so, then you are “lucid” that is, clearly in your mind and you experience it consciously. If you can ask yourself these questions while you are in a dream, and you can answer it, then you have a lucid dream that you can consciously experience and even control.
The expression Lucidity In medicine, denotes the clarity of consciousness. It is closely related to the level of alertness. A lucid dream (or lucid dream) is a dream in the course of which the sleeper is aware of his dream state.
"A lucid dream, also a lucid dream (from the Latin lux, lūcis" light "), is a dream in which the dreamer is aware that he is dreaming."
You can experience lucid dreams actively or passively. The most popular form of lucid dreaming is active participationwhere you create and control your dreams.
This can be a fun and adventurous way to achieve a lucid dream, and it is what most people think of when they hear the term “lucid dream”.
But also that passive dreaming can be exciting. Gaining clarity in your dreams but letting your subconscious do the rest of the work is a really effective self-awareness tool.

If you've had lucid dreams before and are just looking for a way to speed up the process and get results faster, that's fine, keep reading.
If this is going to be your first lucid dream and you're looking for a way to a lucid dream tonight then we just have to explain a few things.
Lucid dreams are very intense and the experience is different for everyone. If you don't want that, then don't even try to have a lucid dream. It's no more dangerous than sleeping normally, but you probably will emotionally Experiencing things that you are not prepared for.
An example of this is potentially having a deceased relative or friend appear in lucid dream and then waking up to be desperate or emotionally unstable. It doesn't happen very often, but just be aware that lucid dreams are emotions and it will seem very real to you.
These things need to be explained to people who are just starting out with lucid dreams so that they don't get a bad shock and are prepared.
So, let's finally get to the good part. Do you want to know how to make a lucid dream come true tonight, with as little waiting time as possible? Okay, here are the steps!
How you are guaranteed to have a lucid dream tonight
To you at your first Prepare lucid dream, start with some basic preparation. Keep your bedroom nice and tidy, making sure that no light from computer screens or street lamps enters the room. When you go to sleep, the room should be as dark as possible.
We should mention at this point that the method shown here will be to wake up a little earlier than usual, just for a few seconds and then plunging back into the dream. It is literally about "waking up" your mind.
You don't have to get out of bed, don't worry. This method is known as the "Wake Back To Bed" technique (WBTB), and as the name suggests, it involves setting an alarm clock, "waking up" the mind and then sliding back into bed or into the dream.
There are very good reasons for this: Your brain is during the Deep sleep (REM sleep) most active, which happens a few hours before you naturally wake up.
It is precisely in this phase that we want to “wake up” the mind and immediately continue dreaming in order to experience a lucid dream.
You can also get some basic ones if you want Dream aids such as incense, pillow spray, background noise, etc. Or try learning some basic lucid dream meditation techniques.

Step 1: Spend the day researching lucid dreams
Here we start with the preparation for your lucid dream.
For the rest of the day, until you go to bed, keep your mind occupied with lucid dreams and think of lucid dreams. Read about it, talk to your friends about it, and most importantly, think about what exactly you will be happy to do in your lucid dream.
The key is to focus on what you are going to experience in the lucid dream and fill your subconscious with information about lucid dreams.
Step 2: Carry out many "reality checks"
At a Reality check you test if you are awake or if you are asleep and dreaming.
You should do these "reality checks" about 10 times a day, but if you're trying to have a lucid dream tonight, do at least 25 of these reality checks before bed.
The most effective reality check is this:
- Extend your hand and use the other finger to try to push one finger through the palm of your hand.
- Really expect the finger to go through the hand, and only if it doesn't work, tell yourself, "Oh, so I have to be awake".
- As you expect the finger to go through the hand, ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?"
- In a dream the fingers will ALWAYS go through your hand, but of course in real life they will NEVER go through your hand.
- Do this test several times during the day, and most likely at some point it will suddenly work and happen right now in your dream.
- When it happens in your dream, the finger will go through the palm of your hand and you will say to yourself: "I have to dream" and then you are in a lucid dream right now!
This is just one of many reality checks. There are many different options, but we've found this finger palm push test to be the most effective and it will help you achieve a lucid dream quickly.
You can experiment with other reality checks later if you want.
Step 3: Turn off all screens an hour before bed
Just before you go to bed, avoid artificial lights and all screens.
Put your phone on mute (but make sure the alarm is still working) and make sure not to watch TV. This is because you want your body to make enough of the sleep hormones like melatonin that make you tired, and these are blocked by artificial light.
If possible, turn off the lights and just relax a little. Or read a book an hour before bed. This will help you calm down and relax your mind. You can also wear a sleep mask or meditate before bed.
Step 4: set up an alarm clock
Whenever you normally wake up, set your alarm about 2 hours before a.
So if you usually wake up at 9 a.m., set your alarm for 7 a.m. Choose an alarm that wakes you up, but isn't too loud or penetrating.
A calming and easy-to-hear wake-up tone is best. Position your smartphone so that you can turn it off without getting out of bed and without opening your eyes. Preferably right next to your pillow. Choose a calm instrumental piece of music or a relaxing tone for the alarm clock.
Whichever alarm you choose, make sure it not on "Snooze" is set. You want him to wake you up once and then turn you off.
Once you've set your alarm, make sure you get your Dream diary on hand with a pen ready.
Everything should be within easy reach so that you don't have to move around a lot or get out of bed.
Since this is essentially the WBTB method, it is pretty easy to achieve lucid dreams using these steps. For most people, this method works very well for experiencing lucid dreams.
Step 5: wake up with your eyes closed
That'll be the hard part. The goal is to wake up without opening your eyes.
When your alarm goes off, try to keep your eyes closed. At this moment, the point is to wake up your mind but keep your eyes closed. It doesn't matter if you open your eyes for just a second, but it is most effective to keep your eyes completely closed.
You basically want to go back to sleep as soon as you turn off the alarm. This is why this method is also called wake-back-to-bed, because you literally wake up for a second just to go back to sleep. But there is one very important thing here to be aware of in order to experience a lucid dream.
The next and final step to having a lucid dream tonight is the most important as you will be performing an awakening induced lucid dream. Because you woke up earlier (during REM sleep), you will activate your brain, but you will also fall asleep right back.
That is why you did several reality checks during the day, because hopefully, when you drift away again, you will carry out the reality check in a dream and notice that you are in a lucid dream.
Because it's all about how to make lucid dreams come true tonight, we've given you all of the information at once to get the fastest results possible. The Reality Checks can also be used as a method on their own, but to make a lucid dream come true tonight, it is best to follow everything.
So the main part of this method is what happens next: You woke up early, during your deep sleep phase, turned off your alarm and are now lying awake with your eyes closed. Next, you'll stay "awake" in your head, but let your body relax and drift back to sleep.
If you have never had lucid dreams, this may be scary for you as you will experience what is known as "sleep paralysis." Your body cannot move, but your mind is awake and conscious.
Basically, you will feel how your body switches itself off while you are consciously aware of your thoughts in your head. Don't worry, it's not something to be afraid of.
- It's not dangerous in any way.
- So tonight or tomorrow morning you will be able to realize a lucid dream.
- Once you've done this a few times, it'll be fun and keep getting easier.
- It may feel strange and scary, but just relax and try not to move.
As we said before, you will lie there in your bed and be awake, but your body will be frozen. The reason for this is that during the REM sleep interrupted yourself, so that your body goes into "overdrive" and tries to bring you directly back into this deep sleep state.
However, the key to a lucid dream is to “stay awake” in your head while this is happening.
You will stay focused and thinking as your body relaxes and goes back to sleep mode, and this is what puts you straight into a dream that appears conscious and real from the start, because your mind never falls asleep with this method .
Step 6: Use the "WBTB" technique
Don't worry, I'll explain to you in a moment what this technology is all about and how it works.
You are now lying there, as if frozen, your eyes closed and your mind is awake. Relax now and let yourself drift into what can best be called hallucinations. You will see colors, shapes, flashes of landscapes and random people. You may also hear noises.
At first they are random and unshaped, but when you step inside they start to combine and last longer than just a few seconds. Soon you'll be so deeply involved that you can look around, and that's about it. You are now in a lucid dream and you are in complete control of it.
Some tips to keep in mind when dreaming lucid, especially if it's your first time ...
- Don't be too excited or nervous, you will only wake yourself up too quickly.
- Relax and let the dream guide you first instead of wanting to control it right away. Explore the dream world that your mind constructs for you.
- Enjoy it! Not many people know how to enter a lucid dream, so enjoy the fact that you are currently having your first lucid dream.
There is a more detailed guide to the wake-back-to-bed method, but that is beyond the scope of this article. This blog post is meant to be a simple introduction to the world of lucid dreams so that you can have your first lucid dream without long preparation.
More tips for lucid dreaming
Below I would like to give you some bonus tips that will help you with your first lucid dream.
(ATTENTION: Are you always tired in the morning? We recommend SLEEP.INK, the natural sleep aid with melatonin for optimal deep sleep and maximum recovery. Reduces the time to fall asleep & ensures restful sleep. Find out more here!)
Dreaming lucidly is a skill. It is not something that can be easily achieved instantly and without work. But if you follow the steps above, your chances will be very high that you will experience your first lucid dream tonight or in the next few days.
Do not try hard to induce the lucid dream
Beginners often try desperately to achieve a lucid dream, and that is why it does not work. Entering a lucid dream is something that simply has to be let happen in many ways. It's like compulsively trying to fall asleep quickly. You can't "try" and expect to fall asleep ... it just happens that way. You don't really remember the moment you actually fall asleep and that's because it happens automatically when you are ready.
It is the same with lucid dreams. Follow the guide and steps we discussed above and let it happen. Don't focus too much on making the lucid dream come true at all costs. It just has to be seen.
Relax and let it happen
It's easier said than done. Of course, you want yourself to slip into a lucid dream, but real effort should be made to just relax and let things unfold naturally. Focus on your goal and tell yourself, "I'm going to control my dreams tonight," but let it happen instead of trying to force it.
Another really important thing to keep in mind is that your attitude towards it matters a lot. If you approach the subject with the mentality of “I really want this to work, and if it doesn't work, I'll get angry” then it is very likely that it won't work. Approach the matter with an open mind and do not doubt yourself.
Did it work?
I hope this Guide to Lucid Dreams worked for you. This guide is simplified in places or seems to be missing a few details that the more experienced lucid dreamers of you may have noticed. But that's because this article is meant to be a quick start on how to achieve a lucid dream tonight, and the focus is on the results.
Obviously, getting results right away isn't always possible, but for lucid dreams, this guide should give you a pretty good chance of diving into the world of lucid dreams the first time.
If you set your alarm clock 2 hours before you actually get up, you have a very high chance of consciously experiencing your dream and, with a little practice, shaping it as you wish.
