Darksiders 2 is big. Really big. And extremely difficult at that. There are hard fights, nasty puzzles, boss fights and more. It's not a shame, as I occasionally peek into a solution. Our walkthrough not only offers you a complete walkthrough as a comprehensive guide through the whole game, but also a few general tips and tricks about combat and the skills and of course exhaustive descriptions of the side quests, optional areas and reveals where you can find all the wonderful collectibles . After all, who doesn't want all the pages of the Book of Death, all the ferryman coins, relics or the crazy GnoMAD gnomes? So have fun fighting and puzzling and let's get started: Death doesn't like to wait.

An important note: This solution works a lot with cardinal points. Turn off the rotation of the mini-map in the options menu to be able to follow this information better, otherwise you always have to go to the map menu to see which direction it is going.

Darksiders 2 - General Tips: Moves

Wall run: You start a wall run by simply jumping on a wall. If you jump sideways, it goes to the side, jumping up from the bottom lets you run up the wall. You don't have to press another button unless you want to jump off the wall. Pegs on the wall or death grip points can lengthen a wall run, sometimes you have to jump back and forth between two parallel walls. This also applies to vertical walls. Here you come up by jumping from side to side and back, each time gaining height as you walk up the wall. A wall run can also go around the corner. Jumps off at the corner, death continues his run on the other wall.

Swimming: not afraid of water. Death cannot drown and there are no enemies underwater. If you see water, jump in and look around, there is almost always treasure hidden.

The horse "Despair": Use the horse wherever you can. Not only are you traveling fast, you are also relatively safe from the mostly not so fast monsters of the upper worlds. If you want to attack one of them on horseback, you fix an opponent (left trigger) and circle around the beast while you treat it with shots or blows. Desperation Boost (right button) is also very practical. Use it to knock around opponents or cross plains very quickly.

Fast travel: Use it without shame, there are even a few occasions when you practically can't get away without it - or you would have to walk the same path for an endless time. The game usually tells you that, but think about it yourself.

Darksiders 2 General Tips: Battle Tips

The first and most important combat tip: Learn to hold your opponent fixed (left trigger) and to dodge in the desired direction in a targeted and reliable manner (right button). Death relies on being quick, evasive, and then countering. For this it is essential that you can keep an eye on the desired opponent, that you can safely avoid his blows and other dangers and do not leave anything to chance. Learn this, it's vital.

Dodging and counterattacking is the second rule that builds on it. Building up in front of an opponent and then hacking away is rarely a good idea. First keep a little distance, especially with enemies and bosses you are not yet familiar with, look at what they are doing and avoid it. Make a note of when there is a time window for counterattacks and how long it is open. Almost every enemy has a technique that ensures that you don't want to be around them for too long. Wait, evade, there, combo, away. Very often this will be the general plan. Late enemies in particular, who cause a lot of damage, can only be defeated in this way.

The third rule is: learn your combos! Banging is all well and good, but a good combo does a lot more damage. If you learn new combos from a teacher either in Drei-Stein or at the Eternal Throne, try them out and see if they suit you. You should definitely buy them all and you should have enough money for them after a few hours. You can also find your combos for reference in the options menu.

Experiment with the secondary weapons. There are heavy and light weapons. First ones are quick but do little damage. The latter are very slow but cause a lot of damage. Both are useful and depend on how you play. Switching between certain opponents and bosses is also useful, so always keep a good weapon of each category in stock and practice a little with both.

Loot is not there to make up for your inability to control the combat movements. The more points a weapon gives you is never enough to win a fight that you don't win. Of course, that doesn't mean you should ignore it. Check the inventory every hour or on good occasions such as a visit to a dealer and look for the best weapon and armor - or the one whose specialties suit you and your style of play the most. You sell the rest or you feed it to an owned weapon. Don't let the meager starting values of these weapons put you off. Do you have enough prey to feed, these weapons rise in five levels and become with the most powerful thing you will get at this moment in the game. But do not feed any weapons whose level is significantly below the other current ones for you. That doesn't help anymore. But a newly found possessed can be the best thing that happens to you right now.
