How to control the iTunes volume with the keyboard

iTunes: Increase the volume - here's how

If you want to turn up the volume in iTunes, you can do so quickly and easily using either your mouse or two different keyboard shortcuts. You can find out how this works here.

Increase the volume manually

On iTunes, if you want to turn up the volume for your songs to play, there are several ways you can do it.

  • For one, you can adjust the volume using your mouse. To the left of the main iTunes display is the volume control. Click on the slider for this and drag it to the right to increase the volume. To decrease the volume again, you have to move the slider to the left.
  • On the other hand, you can also increase the volume using two different key combinations. To do this, press the Ctrl key, hold it down and then press either the "up" arrow key or the plus sign to the right of the Ü key.
  • To reduce the volume using the keyboard, you can either use the key combination Ctrl + arrow key "down" or press the Ctrl key and the minus sign key to the right of the dot key at the same time.

If you have reached maximum volume and still want to increase the volume, you can try increasing the Windows volume if it is not yet at maximum output. To do this, simply left-click on the volume symbol in the lower right corner, which is located slightly to the left of your date display, and drag the slider up to increase the volume.

Let iTunes adjust the volume automatically

Alternatively, you can also use iTunes to automatically adjust the volume of the individual songs. ITunes checks all the songs in your library and adjusts the volume to a uniform level.

  1. To use this function, first start iTunes.
  2. In the menu item "Edit" click on "Settings" at the bottom or press the key combination Ctrl + comma.
  3. Now select the second tab from the left "Playback".
  4. Check the box next to "Adjust volume".
  5. Finally, click "OK" to apply the change.
