Read new WhatsApp messages from a floating widget [Android]

WhatsApp is for sure one of the most popular messaging apps that others use, perhaps after Facebook Messenger. Over the past year, WhatsApp has received a lot of updates, some good, some not as good as the "lakes" reports now released. This makes the app a little tricky to use, but you can turn off the Seen report. If you'd rather keep the "Seen" report but still want to bypass it, try Chat Helper for WhatsApp. It's a free Android widget that adds an elegant floating button to your screen. The button has a badge that indicates the number of new / unread messages. Tapping it will expand it so you can read the message. Your recipient will not know that you have read the message and it will remain "unread".

Installing Chat Helper for WhatsApp is easy, but activating it is a bit annoying. Open the app and turn on the accessibility service. In these options, find the Chat Helper option and enable it. You will be notified on the screen so the app can create widgets and set the app to always create widgets. You may see this notification multiple times and it will take time to tap Create. Once the app has been activated, the widget will appear on your screen.

The widget can be moved anywhere on your screen. Tap on it to expand it and read a message. You can pin a message so that it stands open. The message and widget are displayed on top of all apps. To have the widget switch to the back of the screen when another app is activated, select on the "Visibility" tab in the app which apps should be used to display the widget and which should not.

Chat Helper for WhatsApp has ads that are a little annoying to use. However, the ads only appear when you switch to WhatsApp so they aren't very intrusive.
