Repair technique

So that the repair manual is understandable for you, we look at it step by step with photo examples for each important fixed moment.

  1. First you need to prepare a tool: a marker, fine-grained skin, an indicator and a conventional screwdriver.
  2. Disconnect the machine from the input screen in order to interrupt the power supply in the house and to protect yourself from electric shock.
  3. Make sure that there is no voltage in the room by checking the power supply in the nearest outlet using the indicator. If you don't know how to use the indicator screwdriver, we recommend that you read the instructions we referred to.
  4. Remove the light switch from the strobes. Before fixing the product, you need to remove the decorative cover yourself, check the lack of tension with an indicator screwdriver, unscrew the screws on the side and pull the case out of the glass.
  5. Disconnect the cables. If the light switch has two buttons, we recommend marking with a marker which of the cores is an introductory one so that you don't mix it up later and make a correct connection yourself.
  6. Dismantle the case and go to the contacts likely causing the repair. These structural elements are located immediately behind the plastic key, which is fastened with screws. They are not difficult to fix as you will see later.
  7. Visually inspect the contacts in the shape of a hemisphere (they are visible in the photo) and if they are burned, use a fine-grained skin to clean them to a metallic sheen. If it is not possible to clean the charcoal well with sandpaper, you can gently clean the screwdriver with one prick. This is enough to fix the light switch with your own hands.
  8. Assemble the housing in reverse order. The video below shows how to dismantle and collect the light switch at home.
  9. Establish the connection of the cables and the installation of the housing in the sub-socket.
  10. Turn on the device at the control panel and check that the light switch works. If the switch doesn't break and work properly, you can be proud - you have the product repaired. If the light is on when the switch is off, you cleaned the contacts poorly or made the wrong connection, then you will have to do everything again.

So you can repair the product yourself in 10 steps. As you can see, it isn't complicated to repair and even a novice electrician will be able to do it. We also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the following tips that will help you quickly and correctly repair the switch in the apartment.

Practical advice for

  1. If the breaker of the old sample breaks it can certainly be fixed, but that doesn't make sense because every detail wears out over time, and it's very dangerous to use old switches and sockets in an electrician, especially if they fail often. To this day, even such leading companies as lingerie have inexpensive but reliable products, even with backlighting, a chain (lanyard) or light control.
  2. The reason that the contacts on the rocker switch burn quickly is that the lightbulbs are too strong. We recommend replacing incandescent lamps with more efficient and at the same time less powerful light sources - LED lamps. In this case, you can forget about repairing the switch for a long time.
  3. Before completely dismantling the case, check how well the wires are tightened with screws. You may be able to fix the switch simply by tightening the screws with a screwdriver.
  4. In order not to confuse the order of assembly of the parts of the dismantled housing, we recommend using the camera: take pictures of each of the dismantling phases one after the other and, if necessary, remove the construction from the photo.

That was all I wanted to tell you how to fix the light switch yourself. We hope the instructions and photo examples provided will help you fix the switch that won't turn off or the lights in the house won't turn on!
