When was Thomas Farynor born
Tom Vorlost Riddle(Engl.Tom Marvolo Riddle ) alias Lord Voldemort (* December 31, 1926, † May 2, 1998) was the most terrible black magician of all time and, after Gellert Grindelwald, also the strongest. His greatest enemies were Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore. Voldemort's reign of terror lasted from 1970 to 1981 and 1995 to 1998 until he was defeated by Harry Potter at the Battle of Hogwarts. He was named after his father Tom Riddle sr. and his grandfather Vorlost Gaunt (Engl.Marvolo Gaunt ) named. He and Bellatrix Lestrange have a daughter named Delphini.
Voldemort's greatest goal was "to conquer death". In order to attain immortality, he created seven Horcruxes, and one more unwittingly. According to this, his soul consisted of eight fragments.
The witch Merope from the pure-blood house of Gaunt was supposed to marry another wizard, but fell in love with the Muggle Tom Riddle Sr., who did not return her love. So she used a love potion to win him over, and so they fathered a son. Merope thought that the love potion and the time spent with her had also developed love for Tom with Tom, but she was wrong and decided not to bind him to her further with magic. Tom Riddle was born on December 31, 1926 in an orphanage in London, where he also grew up, as his mother died shortly after birth; his father, Tom Riddle Sr., was a wealthy Muggle whom Tom hated.
Even as a child he liked to torture other children and animals.
School days at Hogwarts
At the age of eleven, in 1938, he was brought to Hogwarts by Albus Dumbledore. At the time Tom mentioned that he could talk to snakes, but Albus Dumbledore didn't really care. He quickly proved himself to be a gifted student. His then Head of House, Horace Slughorn (Slytherin), was proud to have him in his slug club. Tom was generally liked by the teaching staff because he was always hardworking and had an insatiable hunger for knowledge. Only his teacher in Transfiguration, Albus Dumbledore, distrusted him. Nonetheless, he became a prefect.
Tom Riddle began to delve into his ancestors and found that he was a descendant of Salazar Slytherin and concluded that he was the true heir to Slytherin. During this time he also took his pseudonym.
TOM VORLOST RIDDLE
He moved the letters and it came out:
IS LORD VOLDEMORT
(In the original TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE to I AM LORD VOLDEMORT)
He opened the Chamber of Secrets in his fifth year. The monster inside, the basilisk, killed a Muggle-born girl. From then on, her spirit remained at the place of her death, the girls' toilet, and she was now called the "Moaning Myrtle" because of her incessant complaints. As a prefect, Tom enjoyed a high reputation and led the headmaster at the time, Armando Dippet, on the track that allegedly Rubeus Hagrid had opened the chamber. Everyone suspected Hagrid for his AcromantulaAragog and his fondness for monsters. As a result, he was expelled from school.
When Riddle's Potions teacher Horace Slughorn spoke of Horcruxes, his interest and ambition were piqued. He attempted a cautious conversation when alone with his teacher, in which Riddle asked if it was possible to theoretically split his soul into not just two, but seven, rather than as mentioned by Slughorn. The memory was also changed later by the potions teacher and Slughorn lived from now on with the shame of having provided important information about immortality to the future Lord Voldemort.
But since Dumbledore still mistrusted Riddle, the latter did not dare to open the Chamber of Secrets again and to complete "Salazar Slytherin's noble work". He wrote a diary, which contained part of his soul, so that the memory of the true heir of Slytherin was preserved - he did this too, because he wanted to have the Chamber of Secrets reopened after his school days. Riddle later made the diary one of his Horcruxes.
Murder of Riddle's family
In his senior year at Hogwarts, Tom Riddle was the epitome of a model student: prefect, head boy, and one of the most brilliant students to have ever attended Hogwarts.
Tom had developed a hatred of Muggles because of his Muggle father leaving his mother. He traveled to Little Hangleton, the home of the Riddles, in the summer of 1945. He came across his uncle Morfin at the Gaunts estate. He used a shock spell and gave him a false memory. The events that followed could only be guessed at by Dumbledore. Riddle took Morfin's wand, went to the Riddles' house, killed his father, grandfather, and grandmother, brought the wand back to Morfin, stole the ring from Vorlost Gaunt, turned it into a Horcrux, hid it in the garden shed, and left the village.
Based on his implanted memory, Morfin, who was known as a muggle hater, confessed to the murder of the Riddles. He was taken to Azkaban, where shortly before his death he was visited by Dumbledore and left him with the memory of Tom Riddle.
Employment after Hogwarts
Tom Riddle had made a name for himself as a magician of genius during his years at Hogwarts. Everyone expected that he would take a job at the Ministry of Magic and eventually become Minister of Magic. But contrary to all expectations, he started at Borgin and Burkes to work in Knockturn Alley. This work was only a second priority for him, however, because after graduating from school he asked Armando Dippet if he could stay at Hogwarts and teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. But Dippet replied that he was still too young and should come back in a few years.
At work for Borgin and Burkes he could use one of his greatest talents: to flatter people. He took on his boss's orders, which required a special art of persuasion. In this way, Tom also came across Hepzibah Smith, who valued him very much and even trusted him so much that she showed him her greatest treasures: a goblet from Helga Hufflepuff and the medallion from Salazar Slytherin. Riddle recognized the immense material, but above all also the high personal value of these objects. When Harry Potter saw this memory in Dumbledore's Pensieve, he clearly recognized "a flash of red in Voldemort's eyes". Two days after Riddle visited Hepzibah Smith, she was dead, allegedly poisoned by her house-elf, Hokey. This is what the Ministry officials thought, as Hokey remembered mixing something in her mistress' cocoa. It was widely believed that the old and confused house-elf mistook poison for sugar. But according to Dumbledore, this murder is too much like that of the Riddles. Obviously Riddle had planted a reminder on someone to cover up his guilt, this time it hit Hokey. In any case, after the murder, the two valuable items were missing from Hepzibah's house. The relatives of Hepzibah thought that the senile woman had hidden the medallion and the cup somewhere and surrounded it with many protective charms.
After the murder and theft, Riddle turned these items into horcruxes.
Transformation to the Dark Lord
After these events, Tom Riddle disappeared from the scene for a long time. Nor did he use his father's name anymore, he just called himself Lord Voldemort. It can be assumed that Voldemort was looking for Rowena Ravenclaw's tiara during these years, because the Gray Lady, Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter, had revealed to him at Hogwarts that she had hidden the tiara in Albania.
After finding the tiara, he turned it into a Horcrux as well and returned to Hogwarts to reapply for the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Albus Dumbledore, who had meanwhile become Headmaster, refused the job and pointed out that Riddle had now been offered the post of Minister of Magic three times. Voldemort didn't want to be a teacher either, just needed an excuse to come to Hogwarts: He wanted to hide the diadem in the Room of Requirement, which he finally did. From that day on, however, the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher position was bewitched and no teacher managed to stay in office for more than a year. This spell only dissolved with Voldemort's death.
It was around this time that Voldemort began to gather his "friends" from Hogwarts, many of whom became the first Death Eaters.
During this time, Voldemort also lost his good looks. The tearing apart of his soul gave him some security against death, but it was also very hard on his body and soul. He was becoming less and less human.
Rise of the Dark Lord
Voldemort gathered his most loyal followers in the 1970s and began the mudblood hunt with them.
During this time he once again played out his great strength, the art of persuasion, and won over those beings who were forced by society to live in secrecy. Giants and vampires joined him. Also very important to Voldemort were the werewolves, led by Fenrir Greyback, one of Voldemort's most fanatical followers. It was also feared that the goblins would join Voldemort, but he never managed to win over the Guardians of Gringott, who prided themselves on thinking independently and not submitting to anyone. Perhaps most devastating for the wizarding society was that Voldemort managed to get the Dementors to join him.
During this time there was confusion and panic in the wizarding world. Nobody trusted their counterpart anymore and the ministry locked many innocent people in Azkaban, also to prove to the wizards that they had the situation under control.
The only really safe place was Hogwarts, where Albus Dumbledore, the only wizard Voldemort really feared, protected the students. It was around this time that Dumbledore founded the Order of the Phoenix to stand up to Voldemort. Many aurors from the Ministry joined the order.
In 1979 Voldemort was at the height of his power. He enjoyed the support of many witches and wizards. Some wanted protection from evil, others wanted some of Voldemort's fame, and very few believed fully in Voldemort's ideals (the latter were the Dark Lord's closest circle of Death Eaters). Voldemort did not care about these different motivations to join the Death Eaters, it all boiled down to his having almost unlimited power.
One of his most loyal Death Eaters, Severus Snape, overheard the Boar's Head in Hogsmeade, Sybill Trelawney, who was applying to Albus Dumbledore to teach divination, but only heard the first part of the prophecy before he was thrown out by the Boar's head barman, Aberforth Dumbledore. The future potions teacher then brought the news to his masters that there was a prophecy about Voldemort and a boy who would eventually break his power.
The prophecy read as follows:
- „The one with the power to defeat the Dark Lord approaches ... born to those who stood up to him three times, born when the seventh month dies ... and the Dark Lord will mark Him as an equal, but He will have a power that the Dark Lord does not know ... and one must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives ... the one with the power to defeat the Dark Lord , will be born when the seventh month dies ...“
- - Sybill Trelawney
The prophecy applied to two boys, Harry Potter, a half-blood and Neville Longbottom, a pure-blood. Since Voldemort wanted to eliminate this "danger", he opted for the boy whose mother was Muggleborn, Harry Potter. Perhaps, according to Dumbledore, because Voldemort saw parallels between himself and Harry Potter.
Lord Voldemort went to Godric's Hollow to kill the Potters. The Potters 'place of residence was revealed to him by Peter Pettigrew, the Potters' keeper of secrets. Voldemort killed James Potter with the killing curse and then met Lily Potter and her son, Harry. Severus Snape had loved Lily since he was a child, so he had asked Voldemort to spare her. Voldemort allegedly would have done this if she had avoided him, but she protected her son by wanting to sacrifice herself for him and was therefore killed by Voldemort as well.
Since Lily Potter died for her son, she created a protection for Harry, a force field of love. When Voldemort tried to kill Harry with the Killing Curse, Harry ricocheted off and hit Voldemort himself, whose power immediately waned. Voldemort's body was destroyed, but since he had created five Horcruxes by then, he could not die. While he was trying to kill Harry, he created a sixth Horcrux without realizing it: Due to the force of the rebounding Death Curse, his soul split again and this part of the soul rested in Harry from now on.
Even before the murders of the Potters, however, Voldemort lost a loyal Death Eater. Severus Snape faced the Dark Lord from the start of Voldemort's pursuit of the Potters and offered himself to Dumbledore as a double agent.
After the fall of Voldemort, many Death Eaters returned to the wizarding society, but most of them were arrested and taken to Azkaban. Some actually regretted their actions, some only feigned repentance, some claimed that they only supported Voldemort because of the Imperius Curse; however, some Death Eaters remained loyal to their master, such as Bellatrix Lestrange.
Life in exile
After the failed murder of Harry Potter, Voldemort disappeared. Since most of the wizarding world, including Death Eaters, thought he was dead, the disembodied Voldemort was forced to go into hiding in Albania, where he was constantly abused by small animals and similar. Took possession.
The disembodied Voldemort finally found a willing servant in the young Quirinus Quirrell. Quirrell narrowly failed to steal the Philosopher's Stone from Gringott's wizarding bench, which would have immortalized his master. After this failure of his servant, Voldemort slipped into Quirrell's body. From then on he lived on the back of Quirrell's head, covered by a turban. To strengthen Voldemort, Quirrell drank the blood of unicorns. When Quirrell finally tried to steal the Philosopher's Stone again, 11-year-old Harry Potter stopped him. Voldemort left Quirrell's body and left him to die as Quirrell could not penetrate the protection of Harry's mother.
After this failed attempt to become immortal, Voldemort disappeared again. Weak as he had never been, he fled to Albania again to wait for a servant.
