The Blu-Ray was developed as the high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a considerably higher data rate and storage capacity than its predecessor. Films with a significantly better resolution can therefore be saved on Blu-Rays and offer extremely high image quality on corresponding screens. Blu-ray players are usually backwards compatible with DVDs so that they can also be played.
